A Modisoft alternative that is back office software, not a POS

Modisoft sells a register and a back office together. Its own words are one cohesive point of sale and back office solution, and the back office half is called Modisoft Insights. The prices are on the page, which is rarer in this category than it should be: $69 a month per location for the retail Plus plan and $89 for Advanced, with Lottery Management, Fuel Management and Tobacco Scan Data on the higher one. Neo Office is only the back office. It sits on top of the Gilbarco Passport you already run, starts at $29.99 per location, and puts fuel pricing, supplier EDI, lottery and till settlement on one tier at $49.99.

You are keeping your register

Modisoft lists a cloud-based POS inside its retail Plus plan, and it sells its own hardware. If the Passport in your store is staying put, what you are shopping for is a back office system, and that is the whole of what Neo Office is. A small connector app reads Passport and sends price changes back to it.

The first tier costs less

Modisoft publishes $69 per location per month for retail Plus and $89 for Advanced, and Advanced is where lottery, fuel and tobacco scan data sit. Neo Office publishes $29.99 for Regular and $49.99 for Plus, and the $49.99 tier carries fuel pricing, EDI, lottery, inventory, time clock and finance.

You want supplier EDI in writing

Neo Office receives EDI 810 invoices automatically from Chambers & Owen, with line-item detail and price-mismatch alerts. Modisoft does not publish EDI on its site; the vendor invoice path it names is a Fintech integration. Ask either vendor exactly how invoices from your own suppliers arrive.

What the $29.99 and $49.99 tiers actually do

Neo Office is a back office system for gas stations and convenience stores, and nothing else. Here is what that narrower job buys you.

A price on the page, per location

Regular is $29.99 per location per month for the price book, Send to POS, sales viewing and basic reports. Plus is $49.99 and adds fuel pricing, EDI, finance, lottery, inventory, time clock, Neo AI and workflows. The mobile app is in every plan, and Enterprise is quoted per group of stores.

Gilbarco Passport, and only Passport

One POS, done properly. The Neo connector app installs on the back-office PC the store already has, so there is no new hardware to buy. Syncs are monitored, failed sends retry on their own, and every send is in the history with a timestamp.

Send to POS you can watch

Change a price on the phone or in the browser and the change moves from Queued to Applied on the register. Items carry PLU and Scan code, age-restricted items are flagged, and Neo AI can draft a batch that a person still has to approve.

Chambers & Owen invoices, automatic

EDI 810 invoices land on their own with line-item detail, and Deliveries & EDI shows Partner, Document # and Received for each one. Paper invoices go in by photo with OCR. A cost increase comes back as a suggested retail change.

Fuel priced with a paper trail

Set cash and credit by grade, let blended midgrades calculate themselves, and read Last Updated on every row, on the phone as well as the desk. Fuel Survey shows what the stations near you are posting before you move a number.

The day closed, the money counted

Till Settlement runs Sessions, Cash to verify, Counted cash and Net over or short. Lottery covers Books, Book number and Net due. Dashboards show Inside sales, Fuel and Total sales while the shift is still running.
